Staying strangely calm, considering we have no PR yet, just going down the old visa/work permit route and applying from within.

Those who know me here will aready know that we have tied up a major loose end in the UK (house already sold) - so I guess that's a major headache out of the way!:raebanana

Thanks to my forum friends recommendations, my lovely Westie 'Snowball' has been booked into 'Golden Arrow' and will be transported to them on the 7th of October (test results pending of course)

Personal possesions have been booked to be shipped out, and flights from Manchester - Singapore - Auckland also arranged. We fly Monday 8th of October.

I have arranged a stopover hotel in both Singapore and Auckland (to await the arrival of the dog), and booked a 'dog friendly Motel in Tauranga for our first week - phew!!

But the biggest bonus is the fact that I have managed to get my daughter aged 15 into a lovely school (college), within walking distance of where we are going to live :yes

The school have been extremely helpful in sorting out all the details, which is a massive relief - the girl has been out of school since the 1st of July so mass boredom has set in here! :(

Still the predictable loose ends to tie up, and the car to sell fingers crossed, but I'm feeling pretty proud that I have done most of this on my own, taking some excellent advice here and there from you lot. A great big thank you.

No doubt I will be posting again before I'm disconnected, hopefully things will still be going to plan, if not then I'll just take your advice and open a bottle of wine! :laugh

I'm very envious Lesley - and wish you all the best of luck with the final part of your move. We hope to be in Tauranga soon too - if only the house-selling fairies would decide to co-operate!

Just wondered where your daughter would be going to school as my son teaches English at Bethlehem College and she may come across him!

Good luck, Lesley. I fly out six days after you. When does your dog fly? My cats are flying on the 15th October - we're taking them to Golden Arrow on the 11th, I think. Better check that!

Barb... We couldn't get her in Bethlehem College (oversubscribed for Year 10)
That's a coincidence though that your son teaches there! My OH had a guided tour of the school and he say's it's brilliant.

She's going to Aquinas College at Pyes Pa

Finger's crossed for your house sale.

Jade: We are staying for 2 nights at a small boutique Hotel in Remeura, my other half stayed before and loved it. It is called Aachen House: www.aachenhouse.co.nz

Jo Jo: The dog is going to them on the 7th of October, but not actually flying with Air NZ until Friday the 12th of October - it's a bit nerve wracking isn't it?

Lesley - I know Aquinas College! They offered my son a post when they were opening but he decided to stay at Bethlehem as he really loves it there. Aquinas looks great though and he seems to think it is a really good school! Where do you plan to live? My son is living in Pyes Pa so if you going to be around there it will be quite a coincidence.

Barb - We are going to live in Oropi Downs (fingers crossed)
But what a coincidence with your son at Pyes Pa - it's lovely there! :yes

Jade - You have come so far, 9 weeks will fly, and I have no doubt that you're 'super organised' too (Xmas cards?) :laugh

Marcia - Who would have thought that we would be this close to leaving 'this old town' - No question we will come and see you, and vice versus I hope my friend. :)

I know it's around here somewhere but can't for the life of me find it, could someone post me conact details of Golden Arrow? They seem to get good reviews around here and the best prices.

Also, Lesley, I hadn't thought of looking into a dog friendly motel - my OH already in NZ is worrying about finding a place for the dogs while he's looking around for accomodation to rent/buy for my arrival. Do you have details on this place?

Hi there Duckdodgers

I guess it depends where you're heading - we are going to Tauranga in the BOP. After a few searches on the net we came up with this one: www.cameronthermalmotel.co.nz

Obviously we can only go off what we see in the pictures, but i will be sure to let you know if it is clean/respectable and friendly.
