hi folks
a couple of questions
tonight i am due to receive a phonecall from an eomplyment agency to discuss "our plans" and to ascertain whether we are serious in coming over ... which we are of course :clap
so has anyone back in europe had these kinds of calls - i'm guessing that they thought my CV was worth the call and what might I expect other than the normal stuff ? are they likely to throw me a curveball ?
and the call is due to be Friday morning at 8-30 New Zealand time - someone please confirm for me that this is actually 21-30 the night before in UK ...

You are correct with your timings,
Good luck with the phone call, your CV must have had the desired effect, I had no response when in the UK and have had not much more from NZ, have done some rewrite of my cover letter but it obviously needs more.

Congratulations!!
Your skills and experience must be in very high in demand here - been in NZ for nearly two years now and I think I have only been called by an employment agency twice.
Normally you have to call them dozens of times before they even start considering your CV (unless you are in one of the areas that are in high demand of course).
Good luck and sorry, can't give you any advice on this.

Hi there,
Expect to get these calls quite a lot if your in IT. They can go on for about 1hr as well. Don't be surprised if they are asking you questions that are quite clearly asked on your CV....my OH got the impression that all they see is IT and arrange a call without even looking at your CV. They will quite likelyn want you to send some extra info to compliment your CV eg: big projects you've worked on, so be prepared to put some time aside to write a few pages.
Good luck

thanks milliemoo
recieved the call and the lady from the agency was lovely - upbeat but yet realistic which is just what i wanted.
i had applied for one job in particular which, she informed me, because it was a government job meant i had to have a work permit and they didnt sponsor people. if i had stepped off the plane today, she said, i'd be in a strong position for it which is encouraging ...
we chatted about the CV and my background etc. - and yes the points above about repeating everything in the CV is correct - but she is going to send my cv around to her colleauges in regional offices as well as welly ...
overall its a good start ... :)
