Hi, I've been buzzing around all of the forums for about a week now and have gleaned some great information. I never knew so many people could know so much. Who needs professional consultations that cost the earth when there's you lot out their ready to have your brains picked and all for the love of conversing and sharing you wonderful knowledge. I can now add little smilies to brighten up my drab posts:raebanana . But how on earth do I get to put a photo next to my name? Everyone else seems to have pretty, funny or interesting pictures to introduce themselves, all I have is a blank bit. Come on share your knowledge and help a newy who ain't got a clue. I'm also very good at posting letters back to myself, making post disappear and generally making a pigs bladder of everything. Is it just me??? Still haven't filled in the EOI, very nervous. Is it the right thing? What about my old folks here in UK? What have other people done about leaving frail loved ones in UK. AM I being selfish?:(
Referring back to EOI form, do I write to Tax office (UK) to get my Taxation number or should I have it on paperwork somewhere ie payslip? Also where do I find my social security number? I thought I only had that if I claimed the dole. Or should I be asking these sort of questions on one of the other forums? Confused or what:confused:

Welcome, we all have our own decisions to make and it isn't easy.
Piccies,go to user CP and there are steps in there under settings and options to edit profile picture. Not sure of the size of the file, only small but you can work it out when you try doing it.
EOI, any problems post a question on the forum someone will help.
As far as the taxation number is concerned, I used my NI number, no problems.
Sure you will be fine, you'll soon get the hang of it.

Social security number is an American pay tracking number (though it isn't supposed to track us--it gets used for quite a lot of things here :laugh). I wouldn't worry about it. Generally if you have one you know it.
As for your taxation number I really don't know but it seems like it might be on a pay slip.
As for a picture you can go into your profile...well here is how I do it. Look down at the bottom (right for me) of the webpage. There should be a tab where you can select the forum. Select 'user control panel' (up towards the top of the list) and then on the left-hand side you will see some links. For picture select 'Edit avatar' and you can upload a small image from your computer or enter a weblink, or even use a premade avatar.
Good luck with the EOI. It make take you a few days (weeks? :roll ) to get one you like. Remember you can make several and send off the best one, and it saves your progress so you don't have to do it all in one go.
Hope that helps!

Social Security Number is your National Insurance Number, on your payslip, starts 2 letters then 6 numbers then 1 letter. Your tax reference is on your
P60 or P45 and is unique to you. Thats how they IOD you for tax reasons in the UK. If you need to ring the local tax office that deals with pay for whoever you work for.

Hi there and welcome.
But how on earth do I get to put a photo next to my name?
For the picture to appear by the side of your name when posting, you need to click on Edit Avatar on your CP (control panel) (which is on the left hand side of the blue bar towards the top of the page).
You can also upload a profile picture (Edit Profile Picture), which can be seen by anyone accessing you public profile, but don't worry, only members of the forum can see that.
I see that you've already got a profile picture and so just repeat the same process, just for the Avatar.
And don't worry, the rest comes with practice. ;) And good luck. :nice1

Hello and welcome. Nothing else, just welcome, it's both fun and informative in here. The only daft question is the one you don't ask.
Enjoy.

Hiya and welcome.
I just wanted to tell you that the taxation number is the taxpayer reference - I think you would find it on your P60 - it is a 10 digit number, no letters, something like 20655 99945. My accountant gave it to me but I have no idea where she found it!
