We're hoping to get a few days in Taupo over the school holidays. I've got my Jasons Motel guide out and there seem to loads of places to stay. We don't want anything grand / pricey or too rock-bottom. Any suggestions? Is there a motel that is particularly good? Anywhere in Taupo that you'd avoid?

Thanks,

Andrea

I would also be interested, since we are about to book one night in Taupo too.

Well people, I feel totally useless. Here I am living in Taupo and I can't offer any helpful advice!! :roll There are loads & loads of hotels & motels here, but unfortunately I've no idea of prices etc. I'm sure you will enjoy stay here wherever you end up, it's a lovely place. Good luck.

We stayed a few nights at Sacred Waters (http://www.clarionsacredwaters.co.nz/) apartments in Taupo earlier this year. Superb accommodation, though we needed a taxi to get to town in the evening, it's not really walking distance.

Maybe try the accommodation on the Top 10 'campsite' on Spa road - we had a great time there in February (met up with a number of other forum members :cheers )

There are however so many great places to stay, others will no doubt come up with some more suggestions. You may wish to drop a PM to Kim39 - they have tried out a few motels.

Have a great time!

We stayed there too! What a cool and friendly place! Not a cheap option, I would expect (my wife's cousin shouted us the night, so we didn't see the bill).
