Hi there to anyone who remembers us. Just looged on for the first time this year as i have a kiwi friend who will be away in France for 9 weeks, Nov - Jan and wondering if any Brits interested in renting their house and cat sitting. But, the reason for this post is I just read Diny's post. Interested to hear they returned too. We left NZ in March and came home to UK via a holiday in Oz. Don't get me wrong, I love NZ and we have the IRRV so we can go back anytime but one thing Diny said struck true with me. I love NZ but I do NOT miss my life there.

We were there over 2 years but I found it so hard to make new friends. Most of the ones I did make were fellow Brits in the same position. I began to feel very lonely and didn't see depression creeping up on me until I had a complete breakdown which was the scariest thing I, and probably Lee, have ever encountered. I was referred to a psychotherapist who said I should go back to the UK on my own for a few weeks which I did and I felt pretty much back to normal within weeks. All in all, going to NZ was a great experience but I do not want to live in NZ. I will go back for holidays when I can and keep in touch with my friends there but being away from my closest friends and family was just too much in the longer term. I shall post up the rental property details somewhere else later.

Glad that you are where you want to be and feeling better, I think its very courageous to be able to admit that for you and yours, the dream was not what you thought it would be and have moved on towards the next goal.

Good luck in all that you do.

life has twists and turns and I for one am happy to follow them, I am enjoying NZ at the moment but who knows what turn of fate or whim will lead us where in the future, you did what was right for you and thats great. enjoy it.

Thank u Nicky for puttin in print ur experience and helpin me feel like less of a 'lunatic' :laugh :laugh

I am currently living thru the psychotic episodes that u encountered and ur right in saying its scary for me and my hubby. Friends and family (and the medical profession) have been great but like urself NZ will never be my home and I am just trying to keep it together till nx June for IRRV. Why hang on for IRRV if Im so miserable I hear, well it's not the fact that I dislike NZ on the contrary it is beautifull and so far the people have been great so the IRRV will give us the option at a later point in our lives when the timing feels better.

So thanks Nicky, Im not mad woohooooooooooo :raebanana :raebanana
