Hi all

The name's Pete, actually, not Max (that's my middle name) - originally form St Helens in Lancashire (a good place to be from :) ) now in Scotland and hopefully next year in New Zealand with my wife and two daughters (17 and 15).

I've been in a kind of limbo for three months now - I had an interview for a job while I was over in NZ visiting my brother. I'd seen the job was advertised just before we set off, so I emailed in an application and told them when I'd be around. The interview was the evening before we flew back - and a day after we arrived back in the UK I got an email asking if I'd be interested in being considered for for a more senior position. After thinking about it for about 3 nanoseconds I said yes - but there would be another interview, this time over the internet. That was last Thursday night (Friday morning in NZ). I got the job! Hurrah!

Now, of course, that means I am released from limbo into the purgatory of the application process. But I'm feeling pretty lucky at the moment.

Let me be the first to congratulate you...Well done Pete, where are you headed?

Cheers! Wanganui is our destination - my brother lives there, and I really like the small town feel. Mind you, it's a lot bigger than Dunbar!

Just found it on the map. What job do you do? Have you got to sell house?

I work in museums - the job there is with the council.

Yes we have a house to sell. I've been doing a surprising amount of painting and tidying recently...:) Still loads to do though. Good job I'm off all next week!

Museums...mmmm how interesting. We visited Natural History with my tow sons last month. It was great. Thought we had better take them before we departy these shores. Seems there was no rush as the house isn't selling. I wish you all the best with yours

Thanks. My brother's in Wanganui, so I already know a few people there from when we've visited him. One thing about actually being in NZ - we'll have the chance to visit South Island :-)

As for the rollercoaster - on the whole I rather like them. I may change my mind though...

I used to live in Toll Bar just by the Park. When I was a child I lived in Eccleston.

I love museums, but the new job will take me away from direct day-to-day involvement (not that I've done any real curating as such for a good number of years), so it's actually a promotion from my current job - it just isn't on more money! No surprises there, I expect.;)

Selling the house is the big worry of course. They still seem to be turning over fairly quickly round here, but who knows? We had that problem when we moved up to Scotland from the north of England. Fingers crossed. Good luck with yours.

Do you know Darren Parry??

Doesn't ring a bell, no, sorry. Mind you it's thirteen years since we lived in St Helens, and I am now very old - the memory starts to go second. I forget what's first. Fifty this year! I can't believe it. Glad to say no one else seems to believe it either, but still...

Gosh, small world, Hubbys childhood best friend used to live on your street number 39, they left in 1990. More importantly, are you a Saints fan?????

I was born and raised in St Helens. It's in the blood. One of my earliest memories is of seeing them in an open top bus with the Challenge Cup trophy - must have been 1966.

BTW I can't remember - do we get the Super League on Sky in NZ?

True dedication (although maybe it would require even more dedication if the team in question were, say, Hunslet:) ).

Thanks to one and all. Right now I find myself swinging between elation and terror, but I expect that's normal. So I'm going to empty a bookcase into some boxes to clam down.

That'll be calm down, of course. Never said I was a typist.
