Hi All,
I saw a thread a couple of days ago (who knows where?) about bringing in your own belongings and paying tax if you don't have a job offer. Where can I find out more information about this? We will be coming from Oz so we don't have to have a job or an offer and we could sort it out when we got there, but obviously we would delay sendng our "stuff" until we had a job if it meant we had to pay a lot of tax. It's a bit harsh isn't it?:roll

no one we know has ever been charged it, think they just ask for a bond.

Now I have reread the comments I don't think this is such an issue for us. We will have residency because we are Australian citizens and the shipping companies don't have so far to take the stuff anyway. Why don't they ship it with out a visa or PR, you would think that it wouldn't worry them as long as they were paid. I don't remember it being an issue when I moved to Oz from the UK. Do you think they worry that they will be lumbered with it or that nobody is going to come and pick it up?
