Hi.
First, I have to thank you guys for the posts. This forum is awesome and you've been very helpful.
I just sent my EOI. My plan is to be in NZ by the end of 2008.
I'm 33 years old, single, work in IT, and kind of tired of Brazil.
Now, I have to be ready for the marathon...
Cheers.

Best of luck with the application!

Thanks, BaldyBeardyBloke, holland, Mickstim, and Kim39. :yes
hammadkkhan, yeah... :D I can't complain about my single life, but I think it's time to settle down. I'm not sure if I'm going to have kids, but I wouldn't raise them in Brazil.
Chiba, IT in NZ really is a factor, but I don't think I can earn more money in NZ than I do now here. It's just the combination of a great country with job opportunities.
Gerardv, I'm from Rio, but I live in Sao Paulo. It seems that you've been here... I hope you've enjoyed it. Your portuguese is OK, I'm afraid of my english too (I hadn't written anything in a while), but my plan is to study english in Auckland for three or four months before starting looking for a job.

I don't think any IT person looking to move to NZ is looking to do it for the money. I doubt you'll find a more committed bunch of immigrants!

Chiba,
I would love if you can elaborate a little more here. What do you mean when you say" I don't think any IT person looking to move to NZ is looking to do it for the money".
I know of a friend who is earning approx 100K in Auckland and he works in IT, has a family of 3, lives in a 2 bedroom rental, has a moderate life style, works 40 hours a week, OH does'nt work, drives a leased SUV, has cable TV, broadband at home, one child goes to kindergarten and is still able to save a lot.
Any comments will certainly help all of us IT prof's here.....

I meant that you can make a lot better money in IT elsewhere.
