Finally !
great feeling isn't it ?
Then when you open the envelope and see the size of the form you have to fill in and the costs then it kind of dampens it a bit !
Also we have to get a NZQA full assessment cos of my computing degree as I am claiming points for it - another 450 dollars !
anyway I'll say cheers for getting this far ! :cheers

best of luck to you. we were selected at the same date. i am crapping myself because there might not be a difference between a postgradute diploma (level7) and what in the UK is called a HND - less than level 7.

Hi I have also claimed points for education (Master in Computer Science). I don't know if they will ask me for full NZQA. I did my masters in China and NZ immigration don't need assessment from some countries including China. Can you confirm you country and tell us if your qualification country qualify or not, or you still need full assesment ?
Regards and good luck

Yes - my qualification is a BSc Hons degree in Computing acquired here in the UK. The university I got it from is an approved University also.
It seems that since Feb 2007 if you are claiming bonus points because your qualification is in the long term skills shortage list (like I am cos it's IT) then you HAVE to have a full assessment - this seems like a rip-off to me and is costing another 450 dollars.

did you get a pre assessment done for the EOI Dom ?

Not AFAIK - do you do this yourself online at the NZQA ? I got a yellow form back with our ITA which says something about my degree being Level 7 and that this form has to be attached to our Full Assessment.
To be honest I don't know why they need to assess my degree. My Uni is on their list, I will be sending my degree certificate in with my ITA application so why do I have to have it assessed as well ?
seems a skank to me

yep sounds like it.
mine was preliminary assessed as level 7 - it being a higher postgrad diploma. i can only hope we didn't get ours today because there is a delay in the post from the uk to eire.
is anyone going to the nz expo in october ?

Yep - we'll be there on the Sat in London.
As it happens i have secured a job interview also as we fly out to NZ for a holiday in mid-oct so I have an interview in Nov in Welly.
I'm starting to get a bit nervous now - the feelings ppl mention about "are you doing the right thing etc etc" - hopefully after our holiday out there it will sort that out !
Regarding the ITA - yesterday it said Selected and today it was changed to successful - the ITA came thru the post on the same day !

no im just gonna take paper copies of it and also take a copy on a USB stick.
I don't think I will have a problem as such getting work as i'm a s/w developer but my wife is a bit more specialist - she works for the RNIB suporting people trying to get back into work - but I guess they must have something similar over there.

I share the sentiment Dom. Ours arrived today, didn't realise it was £685 until I excitedly tore open the envelope, then looked up the migrant levy etc - ouch, but an excited ouch!
