Great news today - I think.
Just got an email from a Visa Officer saying "I have been assessing your EOI and have put it forward to be invited to apply." She has pointed out that they are not accepting my claim on my psychology degree and have reduced my 140 points to 125. I was worried this might happen and that I would be put back in the pool but she ends the email saying "you have met the selection criteria for today 26/09/07 which is 125 without absolute skills shortage bonus points."
Please someone tell me I am not misunderstanding this and we are a step further forward in our dream????
If so what happens next?

congratulations!
If you loose points by the time your EOI is assessed as long as you would have been selected in subsequent picks with your new points you get invited to apply. SOunds like todays woudl include you.

Congratulations for being selected.
Sounds like the best possible news, as they are not accepting your degree then you won't need to prove it at all (no NZQA) so that should be a relief (assuming you are not claiming any other qualifications).
Of course as you have lower points, I guess they may take a bit longer to process your application than others.
If you haven't got a job offer yet, remember to let them know how far you are through the process as this will show more commitment to the move. And if you do snag an offer then let NZIS know so they will then prioritise your application.

Thanks guys for all the support. My degree was accepted as a recognised qualification but psychology is also a degree in the absolute skills shortage area so I tried my luck on claim an extra 10 points. They understandably argue that although I have the degree I am not currently using it in my work and I could only really register in NZ if it was a masters as opposed to a BA.
The way I see it if I hadn't tried I wouldn't have had 140 points and would still be sitting in the pool. At least it made them look at my application and still stick it through for ITA regardless!

Ooh, very sneaky, but ultimately worthwhile.
Well done.
