Hi Folks, well, there seems to be a lot of info on removalists in the UK, but we are about to undertake the journey from the US (Denver) to Marlborough and we REALLY want to go with a company that someone can recommend and that has lots of expereince shipping into NZ.
I read the saga with GOF and am interested to hear how upakweship goes, but I ddin't really see any comments on other USA shippers.
Our ITA is already in the hands of the folks in London Branch and I just got my job offer yesterday :clap so we have a month to get a move on! Luckily (or not, based on what I now know from reading some posts here!) all our stuff is already packed in a storage unit.
Any advice on movers would be MUCH appreciated!!

Have heard good things about Ranier from a number of Americans moving to NZ and HI from the mainland. Haven't used them yet myself...

We used Allied out of Salt Lake City. DON'T USE THEM! I posted a fair amount about them over a year ago, you could do a search for it. But DON'T USE THEM!
Good luck with your move.

We went with Rainier and are very happy with their service. Container is on the way so we'll post back once the entire move is complete. They also gave the lowest quote. If you do a search you'll find other forumites who've used them too. PM me if you have any specific questions.

I'm planning on using Ranier, just waiting for them to give me a binding quote- when I first asked it was more than 45 days until I was ready for the container to come, so I'm having to get another quote. I should note that we are wanting to pack our own container (to save money) so if you are looking for more of a full service move I'm not sure they would be the ones for you.
Upackweship didn't get back to me after a couple requests, so I gave up on them.

Just in case anyone else is interested, we ended up going with Wickman's Worldwide. They quoted the best price and shortest travel time for a container we packed ourself (around $5500 for 20 foot container). Our container left us last week and is scheduled to sail Nov 24, with arrival in the Nelson port on Jan 10.
Their service so far has been great. I'll post another update when our stuff arrives (hopefully!!)

Mostly unpacked in NZ now. Everything went relatively smoothly with the shipment. The ship arrived a few days late but no drama. There was a customs / duty issue the night before we were supposed to clear MAF and the shipping agent on this end (Allied Movers out of CHC) dropped the ball a bit (granted, the lady who normally would have dealt with it was out for a family emergency)... But the MAF and delivery of our stuff was handled well. All in all we would definitely recommend Wickmans Worldwide. They were very helpful, informative, accommodating and had the best price!
Happy moving!
