Well some of you may remember my thread:
http://www.emigratenz.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1045&highlight=
I dont have much time to type but to cut a long story short we are back in Wellington after 2 weeks in England.
After we got back we realised that we didn't like it in the UK. I was just homesick, that's all.
I must go, but I'll update you all in the next few days hopefully.
Good to be back in the land of the long white cloud!

WOW... congrats guys!
So, what was it about the UK that finally made you realise you wanted to be back here?
Great to have you back :nice1

hey moorf!
Basically I loved seeing all my friends again, but I was having a party with about 30 mates over and found myself staring at nothing and thinking of New Zealand. It suddenly struck me that England does not have a lot to offer me exept friends and family. I thought to my self 'screw this' and we booked tickets on Friday and flew out sat morning and here we are now! I've only been back 24 hours - still jetlagged.
Yes we have wasted 2.5 thousand GBP on air fares but you know what - I don't even care.
I will always miss home but I have found a way to expell my negative thoughts through certain thought processes that are a little hard to explain. This really helps.
I have promised myself to give it at least 12 months in NZ before running home again!

Hi Adam and Anna,
It must have been one rollercoaster ride. The important thing is, you know what you really want in life and are now going for it.
The best of luck!

I have a feeling that when I return to the UK in June/July of 2005 for a holiday with parents that I shall feel the same way too.. i.e. it will really show me what we have here.
At least I hope so!
Keep in touch Adam, if you want a trip down here just shout!
Plus I'm coming up to Welly in next couple of months to meet with Jodie so perhaps we can go for some beers?!

I'm so glad that you came back. Well, don't take that the wrong way - I'm sorry it didn't work out back home when you were really set on it, but I'm glad you realised what nz has to offer and made it back here.
I feel some drinks coming on to celebrate! Give me a bell (have you still got our number?) and we'll catch up again.
Welcome home! ;)

Adam, :nice1
It's weird, i nearly posted a reply on your last thread regarding your decision to go home. i had a story from my Mother out law about her closest friend who moved out to OZ. she loved it there but really missed home. her husband was working hard in OZ but she came back, two weeks later she returned to OZ wondering what all the fuss was all about. she, like you had missed her friends and family. She never returned to GB again and spent the rest of her days in OZ and never looked back.
Glad to see your back.
Good luck.

Welcome back Adam and Anna
The majority of people that have come from England have all gone through exactly the same thoughts and feelings. My husband works with a fella who has been here since 1970 and he has been home twice, at one stage staying in England for a year, but as he told hubby, "I know where my bread is buttered."
We found out last night that our good friends, who have been in Auckland for about 9 years, at one stage a few years ago went home to England for a holiday with a serious intention of staying. They were very homesick, but it took five weeks for them to realise England was not where they wanted to be. That was five years ago and they have not looked back since.

at least you were humble enough to admit that you had a change of heart and mind.
Your sharing will surely help us understand more about the pains of immigration.
way to go adam and anna.

Well good on you !!
Immigration doesn't run 'to the book' for many people. I think your experiences will be a huge help to others who may be feeling the homesickness pinch.
Just as a matter of interest. What was the reaction of your family & friends when you returned - were there any comments along the lines of "we told you so" or were they just pleased to have you back.
Also - what was their reaction when you decided to return of NZ, booked a flight and left the next day.
Will be interesting to read your comments.
All the best for the 2 of you, I hope the path isa little smoother for you frm now on.

Anyway I'm glad you feel comfortable with your choice to be here now.
