Hello All,
I just wanted to find it if anyone has learnt to drive in NZ and what the process is like. How much are lessons, how many do people seem to need, is a UK provisional license enough to get you started, is their a theory test and any other costs that I may not be aware of.
Many thanks

two websites that you'll find handy first off.... www.ltsa.govt.nz and www.aa.co.nz...both have info about the licence structure etc.
the AA do driving lessons (info on the website) and they vary in price depending on what region you live in.
when i got my lessons they cost about 35-45 dollars an hour (cant remember exactly as it was a while ago) from a private driving school and i had 1 a week for about 4ish months as far as i can remember then for a month i had 2. i was starting from absolute scratch and i covered EVERYTHING, but it really depends on you as a driver..some people need loads, others not so many. your instructor should keep you informed of what progress you're making and possibly how many lessons you may need as you go along...theyre usually pretty good at gauging where you're at.
hope that makes sense! my heads all over the shop tonight :D
