A new farmers' market has opened in Greenlane, inside the stables at Alexandra Park (entrance on Campbell Rd off Manukau Rd). Sundays 10 am - 4 pm.

It seems to be more "market" than "farmer" right now, there wasn't a lot of fruit and veg today, I imagine there will be more in summer. But there was plenty of other stuff, lots of yummy food and quality hand crafts. It's a decent size considering it only started last weekend. Worth a visit. :nice1

I saw a report about this on TV the other night as 'real' Farmers Markets were up in arms about its name as they felt it wasn't a genuine Farmers Market, I think its the same one, the clip is on here:

I think the owners argument was that because it was based in a more urban place they had to bend the rules a bit.

Pretty sure the smoked fish woman is at the Saturday Auckland farmers market behind the Britomart. She's there with her son who smokes the fish and also frys up whitebait fritters. Yum!
