hi folks,
i'll keep it simple. i'm trying to figure out the way NZIS work in terms of the EOIs that they give ITAs to.
our EOI was selected in july and has received no ITA yet. no emails, no nothing.
i know for a fact that several applicants (including at least 5 on this forum) with exactly the same set of circumstances (no job offer, sames points, same IT area, same level NZQA) were given an ITA over a week ago and yet we haven't.
can anyone offer an explanation or is it a case of Johnny takes a pile of EOIs and Mary takes a pile and some piles take longer to get through than others !
or does it mean something more worrying - i.e. they don't like us :(

could it be down to the postal service? Although a week longer to get to Ireland seems somewhat long.
Has your status changed on the website?

I agree, most likely down to postal service. There should be no reason that you won't receive an ITA.

Hang in there Rambling...it's certainly not because they don't like you. We're still waiting to here if our ITA was successful and it's so easy to get paranoid and start wondering if I should have done this, or dotted my 'i's with little loops instead of ordinary dots. I reckon you're closer to the mark with Jonny and Mary's piles.
If it's the post (isn't next weekend's postal strikes in the UK going to fuel our frustrations?) have you tried checking on your NZIS site. Ours showed selected before the ITA was received. It's over a month since we submitted it (with no job offer) but we were informed it could take up to 4 months to get assigned a case officer.
Fingers crossed you hear something soon

Hi all,
The waiting is indeed excruciating, I remember it well :no...
Just wanted to note that, according to the INZ Skilled Migrant Processing Times page for the London Branch (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/branch/londonbranchhome/tipsandprocessingtimes/skilledmigrantprocessingtimes.htm), it can take up to 3 months from being selected from the pool to getting a "Decision Successful". Here is the exact quote:
"Your Expression of Interest (EOI) will be assessed within three months of being selected from the pool. We will then contact you, either inviting you to apply for residence or requesting further information."
Unfortunately, I have also read in other threads recently that some people have been waiting even longer as apparently there seems to be a backlog with the EOI's :uhoh.
After the "Decision Successful" you will receive the ITA, which usually comes fairly quickly (but, as these things do tend to go, not always, I do believe the 'Mary and Johnny's piles' principle does very much apply to INZ).
After submitting the ITA, the same page mentioned above states (as of today):
"Once the pre-populated application form {being the ITA} is returned to the London branch it should {note the use of the word "should" rather than "will" !} be allocated to a visa officer within four months. As an example, for the week ending 5th October 2007 we are allocating files lodged up to and including 25th July 2007".
You can see from this that they are still well within the four month timeframe they have set, which isn't too bad if you consider that when we submitted our EOI (March 2006) it still stated 4 months, but the actual timing between the two dates was more like 6 - 7 !
I'm sorry I can't offer better news, but I also remember how hard it was when I was expecting it every day. Not sure if this would work for you, but for me it helped to accept that it would probably take at least the maximum amount of time stated by INZ and thus it ended up coming sooner than I expected. Fooling my own mind a bit I know, but it seemed to do the trick for me...
Keeping fingers and toes crossed you all hear something positive very soon, good luck !
