The Auckland Seafood Festival was this past weekend so we went over to the Auckland Fish Market to check it out. Admission at the gate was $25 but we decided against going in and just cruised around the stands outside. There was a small area with a few rides for the kids and some of the market shops were selling food. We sampled some paella and I had a mussel fritter. Not bad but I much prefer whitebait fritters. We’re big fans of the Auckland Fish Market. If you haven’t been it’s worth a trip over there. Here are some snaps:

1) Kina (sea urchin) and oyster shooters served up with a glass of champers.
2) Think these were billed at mussels with salsa
3) Crayfish with soft or crispy noodles

We were there as well and our son managed to get sunburnt a little whilst sitting having lunch. Have to say we probably would have enjoyed it more without a small person (and a tired small person at that) in tow, it was all a bit boring for him.
but for us...fab food, plenty of booze, bit of music and a seafood market to buy your dinner at before you went home. All good stuff!

I was there too - my friend was part of the belly dancing display!
I prefer the Devonport Food and Wine festival too, but this was still fun. Lots of nice wine and plenty of scallops and oysters.
