Can OH apply for talent visa, having already had EOI selected (ITA NOT received yet)?
OH has job offer in skills shortage & with Accredited employer.
We are now concerned about the length of time it might take to achieve PR status & be able to move to NZ so, we're wondering whether he can apply for Talent Visa now, move to NZ, switch ITA to NZ & then submit ITA.
Is this possible?
Also, if it is possible, what happens to police checks & medicals? I know they expire after 6 & 3 months respectively but, do you get them back once Talent Visa given, so that you can reuse them, assuming that they are still valid?
apologies for all the questions & hope they make sense!!
Any advice, previous experience would be extremely appreciated.
Thank you.

I would talk to NZIS about what you can do to get to NZ sooner e.g. with a Work visa. If you didn't have the job offer when your EOI was submitted then you should let them know ASAP.
For the medicals and Police certificate, if you have previously submitted them and they would still be valid then you do not need to submit new ones (they already have them on record). Of course this is no good if they expire before you apply for your PR.

Many thanks for your reply, Ian.
My husband submitted the EOI with his job offer included.
My worry is that, if he goes down the (quicker) 'Talent Visa' route (& the children & I presumably have to obtain some form of visa entry too), can we simultaneously go for PR (via EOI) or do we have to wait for 2 years?
Any advice much appreciated - I will pluck up the courage to contact INZ soon!!
Thanks again for your quick reply, Ian

Rebecca, can answer most of this for you as we actually came over on WTR visa.
When your husband applies for the WTR, you should be granted a work visa (so you can do any job) and any children should be granted student visas.
Now we didn't do this simultaneously, but once we arrived we decided not to wait the 2 years (you don't have to wait) and applied for PR which has since been granted. Which is why I know about the medicals remaining valid etc - although in our case we were too slow in applying and had to do it all again.
Would still contact NZIS though, because if you can either get you PR 'fast tracked' or get a temp work visa whilst waiting, then this should be the simplest and cheapest approach.
