So my NZ plan at the moment is to go over on a student visa. I'll do a one-year program in Auckland, after which I believe I'll be able to get a job and apply for a work permit.

My question is about bringing my pets with me. Is there an requirement to already have permission to work (or PR) to import my pets? I can't find anything that says this on the immigrating/importing websites, but wondered if anyone might know for sure.

We shipped our dog on a temp 9 month visa, but no one asked for any info, so I think not. This was for the UK if that makes any difference. I wuld ring a pet shipping agent and ask them the question.

I sent an email to MAF to ask, and they replied that importing on a student visa is fine, as long as all other requirements are met.
