Hi all,

We are moving from Sydney to Auckland in the next few months on an internal company transfer. We will be a family of 4 - me, spouse, 3 yr old and a newborn.

My package includes a comprehensive Medical coverage for the entire family but with a young child and a baby that will only be about 3 months old when we arrive in AKL, I would like to know what the options are.

Can any parents help recommend their GPs and Padeatricians please? Much appreciated, thanks!

Hi Alfasud,
WE live in Bucklands Beach and have a fabulous practice at Howick House Medical Centre, in Howick, where our wonderful GP is Dr Bronwyn Lloyd (she's Aussie).

What do you need a paediatrician for? Generally you need a referral from your GP for specialist care. If you're talking general neo natal and early years care, you don't need a paediatrician (unlike in Italy, for instance). This care is provided by GPs/Plunket nurses etc. Again, with older kids, I am not on too solid ground here, but others will be more helpful.

We see Simon Hammond at the Apollo Centre in Albany on the North Shore. They are fantastic! Open 7 days a week from about 7am to 8pm...weekends are different. They have all sorts of health practicioners working out of there...alternative health as well as Western Medicine. We love it.

My daughter now about 16 months has had some issues and they have been really good. Easy to get whenever we needed.
