Hi,
Is there anything that states a visa must be used/activated after a certain amount of time after issue?
Thanks.

what i've learned is if you get the visa, you should go to nz within 1 year from the time of approval. after 1 year everything goes back to square 1, and you start all over again :wah
did this help? :hopeso
go for it!

Annie is right, once a visa has been issued it must be 'activated' within 12 months. I understand that if you fail to do so things may be a little 'sticky' when you reapply - difficult to convince the NZIS that you really really want to go to NZ when you have just let the chance go. If you had a genuine reason for not going (illness, family problems) etc, I'm sure they would understand. However - a 2nd application means a 2nd lot of fees.

Hi All,
Does anyone know what qualifies as "activation", would a short visit suffice?
Mark. :D

I would think it would but you would have be carefull about the length of time you were then out of the country having activated it.
Our LTBV was activated when we flew out for our preliminary visit in late Feb. this year then we went home for a couple of months to sort things a bit before returning.
