Hi all,

Have been looking at old threads regarding areas around Christchurch and wondered if you could give me your opinion on a few parts..

I have been emailing a contact in Chistchurch who arranged our wedding a few years back and mentioned our families requirements, she suggested the following locations:
Avondale (Avondale Primary School?)
New Brighton
Parklands
Queenspark
Waimairi Beach

Having read threads from a couple of years ago there were some suggestions that New Brighton was due a face lift, was wondering if this had happened?
Also have read various views on Avondale.

Have read up on North New Brighton School which sounds nice, any experiences?

I appreciate that different people will have different views but any thoughts would be appreciated.

We have just booked a flight for my husband to fly out on a job hunt/ area search trip so would like to have a list of places to visit to keep him busy:yes

Thank you

Hi - we bought a house in New Brighton in Feb and love the atmosphere, it's a very friendly place and to us it's the " shabby chic" that gives it it's appeal.
However....... Loads of blocks of houses have recently been bought by developers with a view to building appartments once they have planning permission.
It's not going to happen any time soon as they want to build as high as poss and a lot of people don't want high rises so are fighting it. They have approached other house owners with offers to buy and have told them they can stay in the houses for another 2 years.
So, there are lots of plans in the pipe line but nothing's really happening at the moment.
I don't know if youve been to Brighton but it has a lovely modern Library over looking the beach and lot' s of nice eating places.
Can't help with the school as our son is 16 and goes to Hagley College which is fab.

Hi,
Thanks for your views, location wise it sounds ideal as we have a wide age range to please.

I will make a note of the college too as we are bringing a 15 year old who will start college when we arrive in NZ.
