October 2nd thirtysomethings arrived tired and bemused into Christchurch.
Via LA on Air NZ - (finger printed and photographed)
That was a delight not!!!!!!!!!
Late into Auckland so had to re-check our suitcases all four
brimming at 23 kgs.
Late leaving on our later flight as the passenger gantry failed and so they had to hitch up a towing arm for an angled pushback to clear it !
Welcomed by Ben & Clare -Thankyou again folks and then taken to Joannas flat - bottle of red wine most appreciated :)(This has been a most excellent staging post).
We then slept for 16 hours and woke up to horizontal rain and snow !:
Since then lots has happened and Im happy to say all good.
Will update again soon.

Thanks for the replies and encouragement !:) Crikey though isnt the weather just foul at the moment!
I have a grey hair in my eyebrow which I have just been informed has to be removed.
Survey report was good - so its all in the solicitors hands now.Must admit will feel a lot happier when it goes unconditional.

Thanks for all the greetings !
I guess Im just suffering from paranoia - wednesday it seems will be unconditional day. Im just so uk conditioned to gazumping that I just cant let go ! Yet since a cash out clause was not placed in by the vendour legally we are bound unless we do not fulfill our side i.e title, lim, finance and structural survey.Well as our most friendly bank manager says good as gold !
We have enjoyed our time in Christchurch so far we experienced Canterbury against Wellington at the stadium which was cool. Ben & Clare kindly invited us along. We also sampled a hells pizza and wine courtesy of joanne and her hubbie.
The weather has been changeable but we have managed a walk along Sumner beach and also up along the mountain at huntsbury.
Brighton beach pier was good as well with the surfers out in force.
I await to see if my references come in for an interview I had last week - I find out tommorrow if I have been successful or not.

Settlement has just been done ! Yippe .........going to get the keys now !
Also accepted job offer start November 5th :)
The house is on Mount Pleasant - just been sorting out the electric / phone etc. Gas next - Gotta say the whole electric thing is a real maze!
Its a glorious day as well - the only downer we had to change our container arrival to Monday as we could not guarentee to the moving company when we would have the keys.
For anyone who buys quickly on arrival in NZ its worth noting that 4 / 5 days late container fee is a lot cheaper than placing everything into storage.

Well nearly got everything sorted apart from gas bottles - they only deliver on Tuesdays - but we have electric and in theory a telephone line and broadband.
Its going to be a long weekend waiting for our stuff to arrive on Monday. Its quite a steep approach and the guys from the moving company have scoped it out.
So from placing offer in - to moving in 20 days ! Unbelievable.

Why thankyou Ben & Clare - we have stocked up the place with food and drink - got some odds and sods (Our first experience of mitre - just like B&Q!) We now have a doormat and no furniture. They are due at 10am on Monday - watching that container being unloaded is going to feel very weird !
Thanks for the words of encouragement off the forum -JJG do you run or mountain bike at all - I cant wait to hit the trails with mine though I reckon looking at the trails I might need to upgrade to a full suspension model :)

Thanks for all the support thought I woul share a surreal experience we had today in woolworths y:cheers es woolworths!
At the checkout half way through the proceedings the young girl picked up my six pack of warsteiner beer and then asked my wife if she had any ID.
Now Ruth is 35 and I am 37. At first I though she was joking but she was not.We produced our uk driving licences these were not acceptable.
The supervisor was called and offered the same response.
It was at this point I lost my sense of humour and deposited the six pack back and said fine we will take our business elsewhere.
The irony of it was the check out girl was 21 and the supervisor not much older.
In hindsight we should have asked to see the manager.
All in all quite unreal.
Only the week before we had a small housewarming and brought enough alcohol to sink a battleship !
But a six pack today was just too much.
Yes we did not have our passports on us and yes we still have not got NZ licences. But having only been in the country since october............
I guess its a compliment to my good lady and in fact the ladies in the behind us watching the proceedings offered to buy the beer for us !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess just one of those days !!!!!!!!!!
On another note we got got a roller blind without a pull cord from mitre. After struggling to get it to fit the roller mechanism launched itself with such strength that it flew off its mountings and landed smartly on my index finger !
Of course I said oh dear that hurt a little bit !
Rant over..............
Alas we will not be attending the meet at the groynes...............work in the afternoon means it would be a bit of a rush.
enjoy the weekend folks................
