I am trying to finalise what items are worth shipping to New Zealand. My company is contributing to the freight costs.

Should I bother shipping my microwave/combination oven?
I rarely use my normal oven in the UK

I am also debating whether to bring my audio separates: amp, cd player and tower speakers. I also have a dab tuner but that wont work in NZ unfortunately

Opinions please
Emma

Hi Emma, We’ve been here about six weeks now, moved into our rent house last week when our stuff arrived. We brought every thing we could, including the microwave/combination oven !! Which we’ve use every day so far. Cheers Andy..

Hi Emma,
If your company is contributing to your removal costs then I would bring as much as you can as things like Microwaves,Hifis are expensive here in comparison to your earnings. Is this a long term move or a temporary thing. If it is temporary then you have to consider the costs of shipping it all back again .How much are your firm contributing? If its most of it then bring as much as you can.

Hiya Emma, very difficult to advise you on this as there is no indication about where you are from in your profile.....if its USA then look into bring electrical stuff very carefully as its a different electrical system here. If its the UK and its working bring it. the only thing that seems to be different is TV and Video stuff. and if its multi band then it may well work here.

Wherever you are coming from if you own it and it works bring it, it takes a fair bit of money to replace all the nitty gritty stuff that you take for granted too, stationery bits and bobs, scissors, kitchen stuff etc so bring those sort of things as well.

I would definately bring it with you, if you use it all the time you would definately miss it. As others have said it would be expensive to replace & it will work fine here no problem.

Bring everything......if you find you want to get rid of stuff later, you can always sell on trademe.
