Is it just me, or does the smell of freshly cut grass seem different in NZ? We just had a nice man come and cut the grass....first time its been done in the 3 or so months we've been here. I could have sworn there was a load of fresh mint growing outside the bedroom window, it smelt so strong. But, it's just the grass

The grass here at the school house smells different too but I remember this tiny purple flower all over the place last autumn that smelled just the same. Sort of minty and fragrant. Quite lovely really.

There is a species of mint in the grass.
That's why the NZ lamb tastes better, it is already minted.

The plant which is smelling to mint is called Penny-Royale. We have it on every paddock and in the lawn as well. Everybody tells us: It's good for your animals but.... None of them likes it, not even the goats.
Even when there is no grass left!
But I have had a good laugh at the minted lambs! :laugh
