Hey Guys,
Just a silly thing, but since the 'Big Crash' I get the feeling that the whole vibe of the forum is different. Perhaps it's the sudden success of selection for most members and their impending travel arrangements, (we are hanging back a bit).
How can I explain, perhaps it's that end of term feeling at school where your friends are moving on and you don't know how different things will be after the summer holidays.
Anyways congrats ( :clap )to everybody with at least one hand on their Holy Grail and remember to report back from the new world. Eh?

I agree, and I think you are dead right why - a lot of people have been selected, and if they are anything like me, wondering how it can now go wrong ;)
Still a great site though!

Can't comment as I joined the forum 'post crash'. However - what I can comment on is the fact that members here and the threads are far more informative, intelligent and just generally 'better' than other forums.
Here you get informed answers to (what some may see as) the most 'piddling' little questions - forthright info with no silly 'one-upmanship' comments, and certainly none of the 'I want to go to NZ more than you do' attitude.
Rose coloued glasses also appear to be banned from this site ....... warts and all opinions, reports and facts seem the order of the day.
Don't know what the 'old days' were like, but as far as I'm concerned this forum is BRILL !!!!!! :nice1

Hi Captain,
I think you are right but it's not necessarily a bad thing!
I think that after the "big crash" many people have now had all there questions answered and are now in shock now that things are moving for them! Other subjects will now come into play. I must say I went through this myself on a macro level when we finally made it. I did however feel a bit lost without having access to you guys during the move. This site is dynamic and addictive and , as has been rightly pointed out, has a very high quality membership. It will be interesting to read all your anecdotes once you start the moving process and finally make it over here!
Keep posting
Karl :cool

I also think the fact that we have mostly been selected and are currently in "no mans land" makes the forum quieter. If anyone else is like me my main concern now is "do I go without a job?", other than moral support I don't think anyone else can influence that decision either way. :no
I just hope that those going soon, Moorf included :yes, will keep us informed on progress.
Cheers,
Mark. :D

Same for us Mark - except we ARE going without a job :uhoh
BUT, we were anyway and the bonus is that we have been selected for EOI without jobs so we're in a better position than we had originally envisaged (although it never quite feels like that!).
In fact, we don't think we will even look for jobs until Nov/Dec as we shall allow ourselves some time to travel the length and breadth of NZ to make sure Chch is the right place....
