Nursing Qualifications

Hi All,

Starting to fill in the EOI and have a couple of questions:

1 - looking at the list of qualifications I can't see nursing diplomas anywhere? I did a project 2000 mental health nursing diploma at UCE in Birmingham. Does this mean I need to get a NZQA assessment? What have others done?

2 - do I need to get registered with the nursing council in NZ now? Not sure on order of events.

Thanks

I didn't do NZQA, I can't remember, I think just claimed relevant number of points for degree/diploma.
I used a lot of the same evidence I gathered for the ITA for the nursing council, so it may be easier to do both at the same time. NZ nursing reg takes 3 to 6 months, so it depends on when you're planning to go.
good luck!

Would start the Nursing council registration as soon as possible as you won't be able to work without it.

We didn't need to do NZQA either, I believe it is because the Nursing council do all the same sort of checks e.g. getting in touch with your University etc.

When we were selecting the Degree option it also included diploma so selected this option (don't know if it still does?)

You should note though, that all the NZQA rules have changed this year (since we applied), so this information may have changed.

If you are going through a nursing agency then would ask them (they get asked these sort of questions all the time).
