Very nice John. A little formal for our tastes, we will be looking for something a little older (VILLA) probably.
There are some nice looking suburbs to Tauranga. If you want more info on the area, just pm lizard on the fishing .net (real name Keith). He is a great fella, and very helpfull.
A nice little doer upper here..

We found our dream house too but were told yesterday that there is an accepted offer on it.. and all that after we had been told we could offer and get in by end March :(
We are gutted. :wah It's not a joy househunting anymore as you just end up accepting that you probably won't get it. I nearly, NEARLY demanded to be shipped home last night... okay today though.
If there is one thing I didn't anticipate when moving it was my yearning for our own home again... we are in our 5th month of renting now and its getting me down - we do have a specific "wish list" for a house and we really don't want to settle for anything less. i.e. old character villa or home on hill with view - big garden is a must.
I wonder if it's a "time of life" thing as I know that when we were in our 20's renting was great.. but since owning in the UK etc renting is awful and quite depressing at times.
So, if anyone out there sees something similar in Chch area or Harbourside area please let me know (unless you are buying it!!).

I used $300 as my search criteria oddly enough. Although it does say TENDER, so ?????
We seem to be typing at the same time Moorf. I used $400 for the first house and $300 for the second, so it may be worth a sniff, unless you know otherwise already of course. I am fubbling in the dark with regards to suburbs and just picking the nice looking houses.

Hi All
I've been having a look on the realenz website too. I found a couple of lovely houses which have made us dream! Sadly two of them sold really quickly of course :wah
Moorf, have a look at this house. When I saw it I thought of you - go onto the realenz website and type in PP223199. It's really gorgeous but a little small for us.
We're looking in chch but saw a stunner in Rangiora. Unfortunately, realenz is not working any longer for me, so will try again later!

I don't think I've ever seen any estate agent's photos of houses, taken when it's been tipping it down with rain, or blowing a gale.
According to their photos, it's always hot and sunny in NZ!! :no
Timbo
25th January 2005, 04:25 AM
Very good point Graham. The NZ agents also seem to be very adept (read crafty) at getting a picy that doesnt convey the fact that the property is crowded in on all sides, and the "sea view" is nothing more than a peep, off of a ladder, using a telescope.
OK, I may have exagerated the last bit, but you get the point.
This one on first glance, seems no more than a shed. Check out the photos.

I don't want to dampen anyone's excitement but I would just like to say to everyone who is looking on the property websites PLEASE try to treat most of them with a pinch of salt. I spent months 'researching' houses on the web before we came here and so many of them looked wonderful from the photos. Only when we actually arrived and went to see them 'in person' did the reality hit home that there are an awful lot of dumps out there....so please don't get your hopes up too high.

Is it just me being abit too 'British' - but has anybody else noticed that in quite a few of the house pics you see on Realenz, the internal shots often have scenes of unmade beds, kids toys all over the place, coats flung on furniture, washing up in the sink etc.
Believe me, I'm not overly house proud but I reckon if you're trying to sell the place you should at least make it look it's best. Or are they trying to advertise it from a 'lived in' point of view? :laugh

26th March 2005, 02:04 AM
Hi Gran. Yes I think it is Marsden, as the house is advertised as Whangarei heads area. I just cant believe an estate agent being so honest with the picture though. You certainly seem to get a lot for your money up that way. Not much work I assume.
Diny, have you also noticed the number of times the family pet apears in the picy. I think it is quite quaint.

What a big place - I always wish they would put a price guide on these properties. They are obviously expensive, but it would be nice to know how much of a lottery win you'd need :laugh
I have to say that I've e-mailed estate agents in the past asking for a price guide, and had to include a phone number to send the mail. I once then got a phone call at 1am to inform me that the property was about $750,000. She was obviously really keen for the commission :nice1 and didn't even bat an eyelid when I blearily told her that I was sound asleep in bed, just carried on asking if I wanted any further information.
Still, that hasn't stopped me looking. There are some really lovely places out there - it just keeps us going when we run out of patience.
