Help, I need some advice.
I got all the forms today to apply for my nursing registration and one of the requirements is a reference from my current employer. This is obviously reasonable but poses me a problem.
I only recently started this job (7 weeks ago) and technically I'm still on probation and my job doesn't become permenant until I've been there three months. The other thing is that this manager has a history of making life very difficult for people after she knows they are leaving. As the registration can take 3 to 6 months to come through I could be in for a horrible few months.
I'm now contemplating different ways to ease the pain. Thought I'd plead that my wife is desperate to leave - not me! Also considering applying for PR with my wife as principal applicant and moving over without my registration and then getting it after I've left the job. I've e-mailed the nursing council and asked if they would accept a refrence from my last employer given that I worked for him for over 5 years so I'll wait for a reply but not hopeful.
Has anyone else been in this situation - what did you do?
Thanks

I don't know but could you get someone from HR department to do it rather than immediate boss? My boss is a bit of an ogre (and was off on long-term sick for a good part of my time there) and although I'm not principal applicant have decided for future employment options when we get there to ask folks in HR and colleagues to provide me with generic references. Don't know if that helps given that nursing council will probably want more technical info but worth a try??
All the best

Hi
We are in Milford on the Northshore. We arrived here 30th June so missed the whole new team.
Hardest bit was not renewing season ticket. You get over it.....NOT!!
Still, we manage to be doing okay at the the minute. Evening matches were good as I could listen to them as I was getting ready for work but our clocks have gone forward so I only get the first half now and then sulk all the way to work. Have to get up at 3am though to listen to the match. When we were on TV in the UK the other week, we had our parents put their laptop in front of tthe TV and watched the Baggies for the first time this season. Was so cool. Even though we lost against Sheff Utd.

Baggie fan here, (bucklands beach), there is a number of us baggies in exile in NZ. KEEP up to date with the albion on various web sites. been here for 3 months, last game was the defeat at wembley...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Still, every saturday comes around, and im up watching the vidi printer on the bbc web site and watiching prem footy on sky until 5AM, my wife goes mad, but i cant help it, its the only true thing i miss about the UK, thats the buzz of a match day, even when i didnt go to the game, used to love watching the results come through on sky........i know how sad!!!!! even getting a WBA private plate for my car.
Will have to start an NZ supporters club, lets hope we make it to the prem so we can see the baggies on the tv, rather than catch the goals on youtube.:cheers

My Hubby has beat you to the Number Plates. It was the first thing he did was have A1BION with West Bromwich put above it. I am sure that was one of the reasons hwe moved here !!
He says you are on the rivals board and he has mailed you a couple of timess.
To be honest I ma never looking forward to going up to the prem to sit through all the misery in Halfords Lane getting beaten 6-0 by Liverpool again.
I still have my season ticket though ( last seasons) as a mementon.
Gosh I miss them am just love getting up at 3am !!!!!!!
Ha ha
Get the Supporters club going so we can all catch up together. I am still tryng to get my head round the team without having seen them play. That is so hard.
