Hi there, I've been reading posts for a while but so busy, no time to send. Supposed to be arriving Auckland 30th Nov on a Long Term Business Visa, but worryingly, had a discussion with shippers the other day regarding GST and duty on bringing our stuff into NZ.

Apparently, because we've been given part of the visa, not the whole thing, and the part we've been given is less than 12 months, we will have to pay import duties and GST on our belongings.

This is news to us and could easily jepoardise our move because we had no idea, have not budgeted for this etc., it will be a lot of money.

Can anyone corroborate that this is the normal situation for those on LTBV?

Thanks

I think its the shippers that had that wrong from the beginning, we came over on the LTBV nearly 4 years ago, 9 months to start with, and didn't have to pay anything on any of our personal stuff.

Can I ask,as you have been in NZ for 4 years,do you now have a PR visa?

IF so was it a fairly easy thing... not?
