what did you all put to show your level of English.
There is no slot for Native language.
I know now that when I look again the answer will be sooooo obvious, but help.

Jo,
I simply said that I was born in the UK to English and Irish parents, as was Anne. The guy at NZIS said that if you are born and educated in the UK they will ask no questions.
Hope that helps,
Mark. :P

Interesting one this. My late father in law, God rest him, was Belfast born and raised. He lived for 65 years in England. and died aged 94, and, with the exception of close family and very close friends, nobody could understand what he was saying 99% of the time.
So, he was UK born and educated, yet did not speak "English" as far as most people were concerned.

That is just as well Mark. You know what us Surrey "cockernees" are like.
Whenever I have been abroad, I am always asked at least once, "which part of London are you from?"

I know how you feel, I (apparently ;) ) have a Dorset accent. When in the US I am always asked where I'm from, when I reply "England" or "the UK" they always reply "oh! You live in London!".
