I'm pondering to go to Auckland, starting in Glasgow, via either Singapore or Hong Kong.

Do Cathay have personal screens like Sing? Any other issues that make one better than the other?

By my rough measurements, Hong Kong seems the shorter route; does that translate into shorter flight times?

Any other comments on comparisons gratefully received.

Cathay does have the personal screens, although I'm not sure they have them on every plane in their fleet. Best to check with them before booking.

We have flown both and there is nothing to choose betwen them, flight times are the same, good service on both. The only difference I can see is that we like singapore airport better.

Having flown both, I prefer Singapore Airlines. Although there is not much in it, SA has got the edge.

All my Indonesian friends always recommend/fly with SQ...so I guess, Singapore airlines is better then hehehehe. I have never flew with it tho. :no

I have flown both but the Cathay aircraft I flew from Hong Kong to Bangkok did not have individual screens on economy.

In terms of service I think they are comparable but in terms of entertainment, I think SIA comes top!

Singapore Airlines every time.

It is constantly rated and voted the best airlines by industry insiders and various general surveys.

If theres not much in the price between the two, go SA.

However CP is still a good airline (its not like the horrify charters ) so it'll be no hardship flying them either.

Guess its down to budget and which airport (or city if you are doing a stop over) you want to stay in HK or Singapore.

Never been on cathay Pacific so I can't really comment.

However, I've flown on numerous occasions with SA and they have never given us anything other than a top notch service.

Would definately recommend them.
