Hi,
We went to the expo this morning and OH left details with a couple of companies. I have spent the last year fretting over being in New Zealand, wishing we were there, imagining being in Wellington, looking at open2view and the New Zealand Herald everyday.
Now there is a chance someone may get back to us jobwise, I'm panicking, are we doing the right thing, will the kids cope (at the moment both are scared of going). I know parents will give us grief, esp my Mum. I have forgotton all the good reasons why we want to go and can only think of the hassle we are going to go through.
I'm scared  help!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Hi Mels
They are perfectly normal feelings that most of us have had, so don't panic too much.
Write out the reasons you are doing all of this and stick them on your fridge and then get on with doing it! You are a year into the planning already.
Telling the rellies will be the hardest bit, I still feel physically sick at the responses from our parents, but hopefully they will understand your decision and start planning their visit. :raebanana
IMHO if you start to think of what you are doing as hassle, not a new start or adventure, then you may find lots of reasons to panic, or pull out and find it all a struggle. :(
Good luck, keep sane and remember to breathe..............in and out, in and out, in and out........ :nice1

The 'hassle' only refers to the clearing house, paperwork etc, the bits you might call 'chores', and the emotional blackmail. Having got that out of my head then yes, even the thought of filing in another EOI is exciting!!!
I imagine us flying to Auckland and starting life there, it's just the bit inbetween that's tricky :exit
I'm writing a list and the fridge looms:clap

We did exactly the same. I spent the whole time before the expo saying, "I hope I get a job, I hope I get a job," then was offered a job so spent the whole way home saying, "I don't want to go, I don't want to go".
It IS scary, its the other side of the world, uprooting your family, upsetting the ones you'll leave behind, you'd be a fool not to have some degree of apprehension.
Just calm down, forget about it for a few days. You're not going tomorrow, everything doesn't have to be done now.
I found that after a few days, the initial panic passed and I was able to get started with the paperwork in a more rational state of mind.
Just focus on one or two things on the "To Do" list at a time. Don't try to do everything at once.
Hope that helps a bit.

Hi Helen, did you have your visa sorted out before you were offered the job? My husband is through to 2nd interview and we would look to go in the New Year if he is offered the job.
We're not sure whether to apply for work to residence visa and then apply for residency when we've been there for 2 years or put in an EOI.
Also, if my husband gets a work visa, can I go with the kids without any other visa ?
Any advice would be gratefully received
Many thanks

HI
No I was offered the job then started the application process. We are applying for PR as I felt that was the more permanent option. I need professional registration before I can claim points for the job offer as until I am registered I am not eligible to work in NZ. So tomorrow I take an exam an assuming I pass it I will then be able to claim the 50 points for a job offer. We can't actually submit the ITA until I get the exam results.
I can't really help you with the WTR route as I have no experience of it but that does seem to be the quicker way to do it.
We are not able to go until we have sold our house etc and so I made my potential employer aware that we may take a year to get there before he offered me the job.
Hope that is clear!

I have had the same feelings of panic - see my thread 'No Mans Land'. You just need to take a deep breath and start making your 'to do' list and start doing it bit by bit. I haven't started mine yet but have it all in my head:laugh
Although I have started to chuck some rubbish out - its a start :nice1
