Hi everyone,
We're starting to panic a little as we're flying to NZ in 2 and a bit weeks (26th Jan) and have no visas. I've just got a job offer so I would like to get a work visa before we go to avoid having to sort it when we get there... and having to act like tourists going through immigration!
We're planning on going to NZIS in London tomorrow with all of the documents to get the work visa sorted... has anyone tried this before? They've said that they may not be able to process it in time, but that coming to the office should speed things up. Does anyone with experience of this know how long it might take?
Any advice would be good to calm my panicking!! :eek :eek
Thanks :cheers
Sophie

Ours were done by courier/post and took 6 days in total (incl a weekend). I thought NZIS London had a policy of turning around work visas within 5 working days, but I may be mistaken on that.

I handed my application (talent / work visa) in on Friday morning and we got a call the following Monday that they were all done and ready for collection.

Hi
If you are needing a general work visa(this is the route i have gone down) and you have a job offer, you will need evidence of offer, along with the offer you will need NZIS form 1113. This is an employers supplementery form which your employer needs to fill in and must accompany the evidence of job offer. Without this there will be a delay.
Its comes down to what visa you are going for.

You luck so and so's. we arrived 9/11/04, husband got job second week and it took until 4/11/04 to get work permit and student permit for my son (age 6) in auckland. They only did it then because I turned up and demanded our passports back. They did quote 2-3 weeks on application. His job was also on POL list.
Sounds like London NZIS is fantastice we will definetly send ITA there even though fees are more expensive.
BTW when I demanded passports back, very funny mananged to get description of case officer and track him down outside building hiding on a fag break. Was so suprised issued permits in 20 mins!

Well, we tried... and failed.
Looks like after a couple of hours queueing we would've got the visas pretty much straight away if we hadn't needed our medicals...
Unfortunately when I phoned the day before and they reassured me that we didn't need medicals because we could get a general work visa (not work to residence)... they lied! :wah We have to get work to residence because the job is with an accredited employer, and that requires medicals! They're being done tomorrow, then we wait for the results, then it's a quick trip back to London (assuming medicals are ok) to pick up our passports in time for the flight! All a bit of a rush that I could do without!
Will let you know how our next visit goes!
