Hi All,

We're in the middle of doing my job history for our EOI and I'm having trouble tracking down a start date for a company I worked for about 7/8 years ago. I've been in touch with them directly and they say they've got no record of me having worked there at all. I do have some P60s.

So my question is:

What proof of employment are they likely to ask for with an ITA? Do they need proof of actual start and end dates?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

George

If I remember correctly we sent in paystubs, 401-K, company pension records and we still had to supply further proof because some were not originals, but computer print outs. If they had been originals it may have worked. Instead Greg managed to get a letter from his old employer stating his dates of service, titles and salary levels BUT it was based on a template I made up. Hope this helps in some way.

This came up for me when NZIS asked for proof of employment with a company I worked for 10 years ago. The people I worked directly with were no longer with the agency. Fortunately, the director at the time I worked with the agency is still the director and by reviewing details of my position sufficiently (job description, work sites, dates, direct supervisors) and pulling some of MY old tax records she had enough information to comfortably draft the letter to NZIS.

Good luck!

One of the companies that I worked for was spun-off and sold. I got a letter from my previous boss to substatiate my responsibilities and tenure.

Another was purchased by and merged with another company. They provided a letter confirming my dates of employment. Fortunately, in that case the person writing the letter remembered me, 12 years after the fact. Hmmm...maybe that's not a good thing!! :D

Good luck! :cheers

Thanks for the replies so far.

It's quite worrying, as there's no-one I'm in contact with any longer.

I do have my P45 and a couple of P60s, do you think I'm going to need a letter confirming my employment dates as well? (The P45 has a leaving date on it, but nothing has my start date).

We're from the US and didn't have those documents. Our problem was what we did provide were not originals, just computer print outs so we needed a letter. Our case officer did give us additional time after we lodged our ITA to get the information.

Could you not get a statement from the tax or national insurance office to verify you have paid dues - therefore worked - during those times? It's just a thought but it may help you.
