Hi

Well the flights for me and my daughter are booked. I will be leaving UK 6th Jan for a five month trip. I am looking at renting in Auckland and have already started the process of looking at properties before getting there (the internet is a wonderful thing). I am now looking at childcare as I am going to need this when I start work. Have sent CV of and had positive feedback so all looks OK. If anyone can give me advice in nice areas to look at rent and childcare it would be greatly appreciated. I am also trying to build up a kind of support network so I dont feel lonely.

Hi Michelle and welcome! Great to hear your story. Do you have any idea where in AKL are you heading? Any areas you are drawn to? We are in Bucklands Beach, south east auckland and loving it. We have 4 kids (19, 16, 11 and 10) one gone back to UK and just loving it.
How old is your child? And what/where is your job?

Welcome to the Forum. We're in Auckland, North Shore - OH and son (5 3/4yrs). I'm not working (yet) so always available for a coffee, walk along the beach, gossip etc. We've not been here long (2mths) but loving it so far and happy to answer any specific questions to the best of our ability.

Auckland covers such a huge area, knowing which part of Auckland you're looking at might help to get specific advice about nice areas to rent...

Hello and welcome. Where abouts in Auckland are you considering? How old is your daughter? I don't work...have 3 young children aged 4, 2 and 8 months....also happy to meet up for coffee as long as somewhere the children can be 'contained' :D Currently in West Auckland, but hopefully moving before New year....not sure where, but still in Auckland.
