Hi

I am in the process of being offered a scientific research job and wish to emigrate with my long term partner (computing) but wanted to ask the forum users here if they had any info on family cancer vs. medicals.

Basically my mother had endometrial cancer about 5 years ago and both my uncles have had bowel cancer - thus we are suspected of having the hereditary syndrome HNPCC (higher cancer risk). I am only 27 and have a clean bill of health - in the uk they recommend 2 year routine screening of hnpcc suspects...(i've had one and was all fine)..

Will this cause me to be rejected for emmigration?? Has anyone had similar issues?

Many thanks
gleed

I too have Cancer in the family, my mother and cousins and my OH mother and his dad died of Motor Neuron syndrome, it was all on the medical sheets nothing was said and we got the all clear to come over, so i shouldnt worry.

Similar things....my mother had pre-menopausal breast cancer, my aunt (her sister) had cervical cancer at 31 and her mother died of asthma (so she didn't live to be old enough to be able to tell if it is hereditary or not). All on medical forms and was not a problem...like you I am youngish (30) and mostly healthy. Would not worry too much about it.
