Hi folks....
I am sure, you all would have been hard time to see Each Day the same EOI status "Selected" ... its been a month, and dont know how long would it take to change....
Like each individual, my situation is also unique...
I am from Pakistan, did my masters IT in China, got married here, working here in a US IT company since 2 years, applied and seletected from the pool for NZ immigration.
I was told in this forum, that Cases from China will take looooooongeee time...like oooooos' in gogle when you search for China
is it true ?
does the Immigration NZ change the status from New Zealand office or the NZ immigration department in China?
What is the expected time to see change in my status ?
:roll
Cheers..

Hi Syed.
My EOI took almost 4 months to change from 'Selected' to 'Decision Successful', and it was a straightforward application (as far as I can tell!). It certainly depends on how busy the immigration people are, but 3 - 4 months is not unusual.
You are one step nearer though...
Regards,
Jane

HI Syeed, i'm in the same boat :) if you click on the selected status, they tell you your eoi will be dealt within 3 months, obviously i'm hoping for shorter, but i'm bracing myself for the full time period, plus... as long as it doesn't change to deselected, i guess we're still on the right track :D

Keep in touch, lets hope will all cross the ocean safely and touch NZ..
Any way, I have't got my answer yet, I asked
"Does the Immigration NZ change the status from New Zealand office or the NZ immigration department in China?"
Hope some will answer...
Thanks all

Hi Syed,
Wcape is correct, the official turnaround time of the EOI is three months, see the Skilled Migrant Processing Times page here: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/branch/londonbranchhome/tipsandprocessingtimes/skilledmigrantprocessingtimes.htm for more information. Not sure if the processing times are the same for China, but somehow I doubt they would be shorter :roll. Sorry mate, fully understand that that's not what you want to hear...
I'm not sure if anyone here would be able to answer your question as they would have to be seriously in the know (i.e. working for INZ maybe ?) to know who exactly is responsible for changing the status on the website.
Also, as Chiba has stated, they're not always very good at keeping the status on the site up to date. In our case the site still says "Application Received" and we have had PR since December 2006 !
I know the waiting is really hard (been there, done that ;) !), but IMO Wcapes' approach is the best one; expect it to take at least the full time period and it will come around sooner than you expect. I did this after we had submitted our ITA and it really worked for me...
Wishing you the best of luck and much Zen patience ;) !

the best thing you can do to make the time pass faster is to get all your documentation ready for the ita - i want to send all my stuff the second i get the ita, so i've started applying for police clearance & birth certificates & getting all the supporting documentation.

Excellent strategy Wcape :nice1.
However, please do keep in mind that the Police Checks, like the Medicals, are only valid for a set period of time (4 months for the Police checks, I believe ?). So don't be too hasty with them as it would be a pity to have to go through the trouble (and expense  !) of getting them again !
Good luck !

It took about 6 weeks for my EOI to go from "Selected" to "Decision Successful". See my signature below.

Well! in my case. Keep dreaming............

Mates you are all great...
I have started my documents verification for ITA and NZQA (Suggested by an other kind mate here), the next day I was selected from the pool and not surprising; I am still waiting for real and certified mark sheet from my Chinese University. As the INZ and NZQA both require, that certificates obtained from Chinese universities must be first certified from Chinese Educational Certification Department. The university first gave me mark sheet with many mistakes, and once I enquired, they replied, the one you have is not authenticated, if you need REAL, you have to pay. Well I paid, and still waiting for the REAL one…(This would be real, hahaha..it is China nevertheless)…Then I will send it to Chinese Educational Certification Department, then to NZQA, then full assessment with documents with ITA back to INZ ….
I was taking it light, but things are really difficult and take long time then we all expect…
Hello fellows, get ready and do it now, others are more lazy then we are, even we pay them for their job…
However, we are optimistic, we have faith, we will do it, (I am smiling, as I will be there will all the loving and caring people, just wait for me!)
Cheers and have a nice day.

From the Link
"Skilled migrant applicants without job offers
The Pool draw, which would potentially allocate your EOI to the London branch, takes place every two weeks.
Your Expression of Interest (EOI) will be assessed within three months of being selected from the pool. We will then contact you, either inviting you to apply for residence or requesting further information.
Please note that if you have been selected and later obtain an offer of skilled employment you should fax this to us (+44 207 973 0370) and we will prioritise assessment of your EOI.
"
It is clear that once the EOI is selected, the EOI will be refered to the corresponding INZ office...
I am sure, my case is now in Beijing... Wish me good luck ..
Thanks All

It took us about 4 months from the UK with a pretty standard application (no job offer), so good luck.
