I wonder if someone could please give me some advise - our son is doing his matric at the moment and would want to attend uni in NZ - would his qualifications have to be assessed before he can apply for Uni - or how does it work?
Thanks again for all the help

yes it would, my neighbour moved to australia last year and her son was doing his matric and he passed it but he still had to get his papers assessed by dep. of education. i may be wrong in your case i hope there are others that will make it clearer

Hi Jane/ Ian
We are in the same position daughter is completeing her Snr Cert - the best you can so at this point is contact the NZIS and ask for directions to the student office and take it from there
Each case "as I understand" is assessed and depending on the assessment you can either enter and undergrade programme or you need to do a bridging diploma - "Certificate of University Preparation (CertUniPrep)" seems to be the popular one.
But you need to contact them and discuss it - they will advise you on the correct processes.
PS: please remember if you are not a PR then you will be assessed under International student regulations and this will cost you 4x more that a PR will
Kindly
