Well after waiting 16 weeks for house sale to go through we finally exchanged on Friday.... what a roller coaster.... I think we are finally there as we are completing tomorrow...:clap

John Masons are in today packing up all our belonging. It feels really weird seeing everything disappearing into big brown boxes, and the next time we see it we will be in another country.
I made the boys a cuppa when they came in, and have just been down to offer them another one and noticed that they have packed the kettle..ohps...luckily they have come prepared with flasks in hand.:p

The insurance list was a nightmare; we were still adding to it at 8.00 yesterday evening, I should say we have been doing it for the last two months! :laugh !!!

We will be going to live with family for a couple of months and then plan to fly out in the New Year; hopefully our stuff should arrive not long after that.

I don't know how I feel; I guess it's a mixture of excitement and dread of what knowing what will come next.

Very, we have not stopped all week.

For some stupid reason I have been waking up at 3.00am for the last week thinking of things we need to do...not good :no

Totally normal !! - Take a notebook & a pen & keep them on your bedside table - when you wake & remember something write it down , then you can relax and (hopefully ) go back to sleep . Its recorded & you can act on it in the morning .

Glad to hear the waking up thing is normal, does it stop when all your stuff goes?

Well it's nearly 11.00 and they have already finished downstairs, not that we are taking a great deal.

They nearly had heart failure when the went in the back bedroom as we have had to empty the attic and all the tools from the garage are in there cleaned and ready to take.

I reckon they will be done in time to miss rush hour!!!!:p

Hi H & Rick,
Congratulations on the house exchange, you must be sooo relieved :raebanana:clap !

It sounds like you're well on your way now and hopefully you'll be able to sleep better once all your stuff has begun it's journey, one less thing to worry about ;) !

Just out of curiosity, I see in your signature that you've had PR for almost a year now, have you been to NZ to activate it yet ? Do you have any idea yet whereabouts you want to settle ? Sorry if you've answered these questions before :o ...

Anyway, best of luck with it all and heres' to a great nights' sleep !

Cheers,
Silver

Hi Silverwing86

It's a long story, mainly to do with the house. This is the second time we have sold, had planned to get to NZ in May but the sale fell through 12 weeks in, this is our second sale!!!
We were granted PR in November 2006 but were wise and waited till the last minute of the 6 month period before you have to hand in your passports. - gives you extra time to play with. We had our passports stamped in April 2007, which expire in April 2008.

We visited in September 2006 and are heading for Christchurch in January...just in the nick of time for the passports.

Where are you heading to and when are you going?

Wow Heidi, what a nightmare to have to go through, in that case saying you are relieved is probably an understatement !! Glad to hear it all worked out this time :clap.

Ah, I see, smart strategy ! That should give you plenty of time. Can't think what it would be like to have to make the move when you're not quite ready yet, just to be in time for the PR !

Christchurch is a great place, No doubt you'll be very happy there. Do you have (a) job(s) to go to or will you be looking once you arrive ? From what I read here and on other forums, it does seem to be easier than applying from abroad...

We are actually already in NZ, nine months in and absolutely loving it ! We live on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula on the Hibiscus Coast. Lovely place with a bit of a holiday feel to it ;).

Good luck !
