I am finally realizing tha I will never alter my work pants myself... and since the weight I lost moving here (between the stress of the move and the relaxation of the new life I'm slowly carving out and the walking ot work...) has stayed off for several months I think its time to get my pants taken in.

Does anyone know of an affordable, nice person who does clothing alterations in the wellington area? I only have a few pairs of pants and want to have them taken in 1-2 sizes.

Even cooler if someone knows someone who would show me how to do this! I know how to sew, but not how to do alterations. I'd be happy to pay someone to pin it all up for me and tell me what to do.

thanks all you wonderful people!

Do you have a sewing machine? Depending on what you want altered (style, fabric, etc), you could do some things by hand (just needle and thread) but mostly major alterations require a machine. I would be happy to show you how to do this as I used to sew all my clothes back when the kids were little (but I don't have a machine here as we only arrived a month ago). Sometimes it is easy to size down some items, but I will admit that trousers can be tricky and sometimes downright impossible.

On another note, while waiting for the bus downtown last evening, I did noticed a drycleaner had a list of alteration prices in their window. I'll see if my daughter can remember the street we were on. That might be too expensive, though, and I would happily help you for free :clap

Congrats on losing the weight...I'm hoping to knock off about 10 lb that I've gained over the last 6 mo.

Hi,

I know the most lovely woman in Wellington area who comes to your house and can do any type of alterations for clothes and more.

If you are interested, I can give you her details via PM.

Regards,
Anita
