Well, it was 6mths last week, we cant believe it!!

We have accomplished so much in the last 6mths and are still so glad we took the plunge and came over......

Both our jobs are going well. Hubby has made some great mates in work and goes to the local rugby matches with them on a weekend and has even started going bowling.... He used to laugh at my dad doing it, but now he is......say no more!!

My job at the Hospital is great and i love it. It is a busy role and never a dull moment! I have made some brilliant mates and am so happy.

Kyle our 5yr old has settled in fantastically. He love school and is very popular. His teacher tells me he is an asset to the class, is very caring and very keen!! He even has a bit of a twang..... loves to practice doing the hakka!!

Our house is coming on well, hubby has practically finished the kitchen and as we speak has started on the bathroom.... got him well trained fair play!!

Parents in law still not too happy we are here and never cease to stick into the conversation ' when are you coming home'! Not so bad as when we first came out here but you can still sense the upset in their voices. They still havent got the computer set up so we can see each other on webcam, which i am sorry to say is their prob - we got them one so they could see our little one, but its now up to them!!

I have a better relationship with my dad than i had all my life, we talk on the webcam every saturday! My sister and hubby coming out here for 3 weeks in April, and i cant wait.

There havent been any downsides really. Can imagine Christmas and NY are going to be hard, espeically dealing with the inlaws. I was quite upset on 18th - it was 15yrs since my mum died and although it hits me bad every year, it did more so this year as other side of the world and cant go put flowers on her grave. But, I know she would be proud of me and what we have achieved in last 6mths, so that made me feel bit better.

Keep in touch with all my mates from the Uk which is great, we chat regularly on MSN and skype and its great!

Well enough from me........ better go see if hubby needs a hand!!

Heres to the next 6mths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope the inlaws come round. It does sound like you've done all you can to help you adjust, so yes, it's up to them now.

I remember reading your posts initially from the UK before we flew out and then when we arrived in NZ and reading your progress.

Glad to hear you've all settled well. Shame about the in-laws but hopefully the next 6 months will see them make some progress with the webcam!

Great to read about how happy you all are.

Just a shame about the in-laws, but you've tried your best and now it's up to them.

They obviously love you all very much and miss you terribly, so maybe time will be the only thing that will help them get over the fact that they can't come to terms with your move.

Wishing you all the very best for the next 6 months,

Julie

Sharon - nice to read your update, have followed your trails so far ;)

You sound like you are so settled and happy and I'm so glad for you. The in-laws will have to get used to it and should be glad to hear you are all so happy in your new lives. The fact you are now speaking more to your dad is an added bonus, I can imagine that happening with some people and situations - its true distance can make you closer in a way.

I'm sure you'll have a fab NZ Christmas - don't let anyone else get you down.

All the best
Vicki
