After 4 years of living in New Zealand, I have finally made the decision to go back to UK next year for hols !! Yay can't wait.
I am going with my partner who is a Kiwi so we will be doing lots of typical touristy things.
He wants to see some of Scotland and Wales while we are there so the idea at the moment is to get a flight into Scotland, hire a car and eventually finish off in London where I am from and to then fly back to New Zealand from Heathrow.
Does anyone know of any Hire Car companies(or Motorhomes) that allow you to travel one way and then drop it off at a different depot ?
I ask as I vaguely remember someone mentioning it can be done in New Zealand, and that it works out a bit cheaper because you are, in theory delivering the vehicle for them. Would anyone know of any companys that do this in the UK ?

I can't help Britchik but wanted to ask about car rentals also - hope you don't mind me jumping on the thread? :)

Anyone know of a good car rental place in the North London area that does family sized cars? (2 adults 3 children - car seats, suitcases etc.)

Also has anyone rented this kind of car in the UK and if so did it cost loads of money!?! (just getting in practice before I go back :D )

Almost all companies in UK allow one way travel. OH used to work for car company and advises not to drop off at minor depot or you will pay through the nose.....arrange to drop off at major depot i.e. airport deport or similar. Apparently airport to airport will be cheaper than dropping off in a city. If rental is also over one week it should be cheaper for one way too....and cheaper to book online.

Tia...he also reckons most of the main car companies will be similar price for what you are after....not sure you can always book car seats online though. Try National & Alamo, Budget, Avis, Hertz. Some do discounts with AA (if you have NZ membership they will honour it).

Oh good! We'll look into that, we have NZ AA Membership and I would never had thought to take our card.

Also read the paperwork carefully, we had to take the paper section of our UK licences, hubby poo pooed that, as men do! but I ignored him and packed them anyway, sure enough landed at London, first thing Hertz asked for was both parts of our UK licence....

We dropped off at glasgow airport., we had a megane scenic, was quite large, fitted four adults and baby seat comfortably. As well as a large three wheel buggy and a couple of cases!

Oh that was the other reason we chose a major company, one for the drop off at different location and the guaranteed car seat.
