We've been reading for months now everybody's tales of packing/shipping but its our turn now!

John Mason arrived this morning and told us there was no need to have gone to the great lengths that we did packing everything up:roll Never mind couple of genuinely good lads. They came in the van this morning to box everything up and the container arrives tomorrow morning - deep joy!

On the packing front - top tip don't put stuff in bananna boxes as they are no good for shipping again.......

Best wishes

Glad you made it to this point...now is when great feelings of relief settle in ....and you realize that whatever you forgot doesn't really matter at this point because you'll be on that plane with bigger and better things to occupy your mind!! It's a liberating feeling.

It took me a few days to get my shoulders away from my ears :p , but once I finally realized I could relax, my body and mind just seemed to melt into a puddle of jello. Whew.:laugh Now OH and I are still jobless (on purpose), exploring NZ, and seeing things we could only dream of this time last year. Container is somewhere on the Indian Ocean, making its way to us about mid-Nov.

Cheers,
Christine

From now on, you can start to relax.

All the hard work is over and all thats left for you to do is look forward to your new life in NZ. You're on your way to new experiences in a stunning country..:nice1

We've got the packers coming in next week too and this is our second time of doing it !!

I'm going to get through this, 'cos I know I did last time...just !!

:cheers

Sorry for the delay everyone, thanks for the kind words. Coming back down to earth a bit now as the stress is lifting :nice1

Getting to the Internet becoming more difficult now as we've moved out of our house and are Broadbandless!!

Anyhow we've managed to get on line this evening.

Holland - I think we went to quite a few lengths in the end that we perhaps needen't have. Thats said I'd rather cover everything than have a load of grief at the other end.
We cleaned all 'suspect' stuff really well. Examples - Shoes - All soles scrubbed and then some were 'back to blacked'. Tools in the garage - Anything in contact with wood (eg I'm taking my table saw) was cleaned and then blased with air from a compressor to make sure no 'bits' were left and anything with a bit of rust on was painted. Hiking stuff was washed and then disinfected as best we could. And so on and so on.

Only time will tell now if the hard work was worth it - delivery date is 10/12.

Only a few days left now. We fly on Wednesday.......

Best wishes

If you are packing chests or drawers, make sure they are filled with lightweight stuff or the packers will just pull everything out becasue it will be too heavy - we had this with one huge wooden chest I'd packed with CD's and dvd's, we ended up having to empty it and they were going to wrap it empty - I put a stop to that 'not wasting valuable space mate!!!' And I found a load of the boys cuddly animals and stuffed them in! :p

Well I found internet access again!
We are in Heathrow now waiting for the flight.
Few butterflies but otherwise pretty good.

Holland - don't panic - the guys coming to pack are pretty good.
Also Marcia is right we stuffed our chest of drawers full with clothes thinking we were clever and then it all got dragged out again! Even so it all still fitted :) Great experience though :yes
