Do the NZQA contact you by email at any point, or do they just send back the originals and get on with the assessment, informing you of the result by post?

I said on the form that I was contactable via email.

Cheers

Hi Billy,

In my case they just posted back the originals and got on with the assessment. Despite the fact I put down my prefered contact was via email I only ever had communications via post. The result came about 4 weeks after I received my original documents back.

Good luck

Andy

Hi Billy,

I had my quals assessed by NZQA in November 2003. The officer emailed me to let us know that he is in-charge of our case. When my school did not reply to his inquiries, I was made aware (also through email).

Hope that helps.

Bummed!! After not hearing a thing while my other USA buddies were getting there packets, or at least turning to "Decision Successful" I now have to jump through the NZQA hoops! I am looking at $475 NZ EACH for me and my husband.....any other people recently been put through these paces? I am shocked, saddened, and broke! And scared!! What is going ON?

I had my qualifications assessed for teaching purposes.
It does seem very expensive for what you get back at the end of it-one piece of A4 with a few computer generated statements of the obvious ("this qualification is assessed as comparable to NZ's something-or-other...blah, blah, blah").
I went for the fast-track option "for a few dollars more"; well worth it for the peace of mind in my opinion. Takes 10 days.
Definitely put your e-mail details down, as well as those for the schools/unis who have provided evidence for you. I got an e-mail back from the assessor introducing herself within a day or so of them receiving my documentation.
She also responded by e-mail to a couple of questions I had about whether my documentation was sufficient. They also checked some info with the Open Uni by e-mail.

Hi SoCal Gal,
If you have enough points, there is no need for you to get NZQA certified. I believe you can still work there unless your job requires professional recognition. It really costs alot. We were wrongly advised by our former immigration agent about NZQA (that's why we dropped them). My school as well as husband's are in the list of accredited institutions but we still went to NZQA. :no . I just charge it to "experience".

Thanks, Jinkee, for your advice...but something has gone horribly wrong with our application, and I am totally freaking out. My NZIS case worker says I must have the full-on evaluation, or they can't invite me to apply! I cannot understand this at all, it seems like I have fallen into some sort of parallel universe where things are not nearly as easy as they should be...what is going on??? I don't have any choice in the matter, and I believe it was a mistake somewhere that started me on this very costly, very frustrating, road. My school is legit....my degree is legit...but something is messed up and I don't think it can be fixed.
No smiling SoCal today :-(
