Hi - can anybody out there give us a general description of what we can expect of the winter weather on the North Island - how does it compare to London? :eek

Everything from snow to sunshine. The North Island has it all.

Auckland, and most of the North Island, rarely gets below -4 Celcius, most of the time it hovers around night time lows of 0-8 C, with daytime temps of up to 13 C, on average. You can get rain, hail and fog, but snow only happens in the mountainous regions like the central North Island, and Taranaki regions.

Generally speaking, it's quite mild compared to what you'd get in London.

Thanks - that's good news then. Just got back from a very cold UK and was wondering if I'd ever be able to adjust! It was absolutely freezing and was beginning to get very depressed about living like that constantly - I have a major adjustment to do - am moving from 33 degrees to 13 !

It's summer here, so it's in the mid 20's Celcius now. :nice1
