I don't know wether this is new to any of you who have already made the move to NZ, but the BBC, have started a new service on line called BBC i. If yougo to their website (bbc.co.uk), and do a search for bbc i, you will find that a selection of their programmes are available to download and watch for free!!! I only mention this as I get the impression that tv in NZ is not very varied.

Everything you'd expect is there, from kids, soaps, drama and documentary.

Hope you can access it. :)

Sorry, but the service is only available to people in the UK, in fact it appears to be stopping many people who are in the UK using it as well.

In theory, it should be possible to use a proxy server to access the service, don't know if anyone has been successful yet?

I've only done this via the corporate network, we just switch to using the UK rather than the US Internet proxy. It can be quite surreal walking down a corridor in a US data centre and hearing cricket commentary gently burbling from someone's office ......

I was hoping to maintain access to BBC, CBC and PBS when living in NZ...wonder if there's a way to access them via satellite (without bringing access to all the other trash you find on satellite TV)?

I'm not at all technosavvy but perhaps some other listmembers have had success maintaining a link to quality television programming after they've moved to NZ.

Just a quick note to say that the BBC i player site, is saying that 'BBC Worldwide', is working on an international version, so hopefully, it won't be too long before we will all (once I'm there!!) be able to enjoy some of the great tv that they produce. (no, I don't mean Eastenders!!)

Cathgates, can you access Pullmylink in NZ?

http://pullmylink.com

I haven't used it, but I believe you can watch all sorts of TV shows (BBC etc) online (supposedly for free....)?

Hi Jane, I'll let you know once I'm there - hopefully, house sale permitting, it will be around May June time.
It does look a good site though - one for the 'favourites' if it does.
