I'm wondering if anyone here besides my wife have had to debate which category to apply under?

We've had preliminary assessments done by two immigration services:

Malcolm Pacific- recommends SMC. Fee $15,000 NZ (!) Only half of that is refundable in the event of a rejected application with NZIS. Assessment was a form letter which glossed over a lot of things in our profile I thought they should have discussed. Hmmm

how2immigrate.net - recommends Entrepreneur Category. Fee $1540 NZ fully refundable. Their assessment was seemingly more "personal" like they actually looked at our info.

MP has a good reputation for success (also the highest fees)
how2immigrate seems to be reputable though I haven't found a lot about them.

We're currently working successfully in the US as "entrepreneurs" but maybe MP knows something we don't?

I feel that we would weakly qualify under SMC. Of course we would rather go this route as you can obtain your PR immediately as opposed to 2-3 in the entrepreneur category.

I would love to hear from anyone who has relevant experience, links or stories especially about qulaifying under the Entrepreneur Category as there seems to be a dearth of info on this.

Thanks!

Hi Dave

There is another forum that deals specifically with business issues and the LTBV category

www.benz1.com/forum

It's not very busy but you may find answers on there. Also Jamie Smith on this forum is the expert - you can always PM him with any queries. He used to be based in NZ but has now moved to Oz - guess he followed the yellow brick road. :D

Thanks Sandra!

I checked it out a bit. It looks like a scary way to go. Oh dear!

Starting to get really discouraged by the NZIS barriers to immigration. :uhoh

I think the NZIS try to scare the life out of folks, maybe as a way of sorting out the men from the boys, hoping that the vast majority of applicants will fall at the first fence and jack it in. Or maybe I'm just being cynical.

Keep plodding on, if you want to live in NZ badly enough you'll get there in the end - and believe me, you'll find this forum a mine of information (and entertainment) too.

All the best.
