Hi,
It's a weird case where I am left in the middle of nowhere. In the month of Aug, I appeared for an interview with one of the employers in NZ at Auckland and 2nd round at Wellington..Both the interviews were good and I was told immediately that I am the kind of person they are looking for.. A week after that I was asked to provide 3 references with my current employer and the reference checks were successful.. then happened a round of case study which I cleared.. Last thing, the employer asked is to conduct background checks on my qualification and which was in the process (early Sep).
After numerous follow ups I was informed that there were 2 vacancies, however, due to some business constraints they are going to hire one guy as of now.. They have made an offer to a guy from one of their other offices and if he rejects then the offer could be extended to me otherwise I have been advised to follow up on their ads..
my ref checks are already carried out and cause of which my boss doesn't have any faith left in me and is breathing down my neck... he's asking me every week if I am going to leave next week or so (though I have clearly told him that I will serve my notice period of 4 weeks but he's a weirdo..) and I don't have a job in hand for which the ref checks are carried out..I have asked the NZ employer that if they knew the business scenario may change, they could've held my ref checks till the last moment or they could've carried out the ref checks for my prev employers.. Furthermore, when I asked the potential NZ employer if there is a vacancy that matches my profile, will I get the "first right of refusal" i.e. I am already qualified for the post and if I decline it then it will be offered to somebody else.. I have not received any answer for this.. So for me, the only way is to hope that the other guy refuses the offer..
This is all messed up scenario.. I just believe.. whatever happens, happens for good...
