Hi everyone - having spent much too much time reading the posts on this site I think I am finally getting to grips with how we will be able to make the move to NZ ...but have a question that I hope you can help with....

Essentially OH is going to apply for a work to residence visa after getting a job ( we hope!). That only covers him to work. I think I read somewhere that if he has a work permit, I can apply for a work permit for the same length of time that his has to run. Is this the case, and should I do that before we leave the UK or go with him as a visitor and apply when ( and if!) we get there?

Sorry if this has been covered before...thanks for all the great posts by the way and all the inspiration!

No questions are silly...

When your OH applies for a WTR, he should also provide your details on the application (and also your children).
If he is granted a WTR then you will also be granted a general Work visa and your children will be granted student visas.

Thanks Ian - do you know whether I will have to have a medical, police checks etc., or will that just be OH?

It will be down to how long you are going to get the visa for.

Normally you would apply for 2 years plus (upto 30 months I believe).

Any visa 2 years or over requires you all to have medicals etc. But you will then be entitled to NZ health care.
