I have some moving companies coming over the next few days but having never done anything like this before I'm not sure what questions I need to be asking, can anyone help?

There are lots of things to consider. Volume of goods (some companies over/under estimate), what size of container or shared container options, insurance, packing of special/expensive items, shipping times & availability, dismantling services for things like beds (some companies do this and some don't, MAF regs....they often tell you things cannot be taken, when they can (read some of the threads on MAF and look at NZ MAF website), Customs clearance paperwork, who their partner company in NZ is....there are some really bad ones out there e.g. moving company, NZ van lines (both got bad reputation), how you will pay MAF fees (don't pay set average fee, they rip you off & you can pay MAF direct later), the list goes on....
